Steps to Stitching a Rose
The sample we have here is a 4" X 4" design. For most smaller counted cross stitch designs, you want to start in the middle of your fabric. Fold the fabric in half horizontally, mark the center. Fold in half vertically, mark where the two centers meet. Put in your first stitch and work in one color at a time outwards. This is easily done with smaller projects like this. If you are working on a larger project, it may be impossible to work one color at a time, so work the design in sections, changing colors when needed. Always read your project's instructions before beginning!
Be sure your stitches are all in the same direction -- lower stitch in one direction, top stitch in the other direction.
For those of you who work stamped cross stitch, you can start anywhere on your project.

My apologies for the poor lighting on the finished product. I didn't realize the lighting in that room is so poor until I put the photos on my computer. By then the card had been mailed out to mom. ~ Carol
